Question: How long can meth be detected in thesystem of an unborn baby, and how far can testing go back?

Depends on the method used.

Detailed Answer:
For urine, the time is the same as the mother... about 3 to 5 days and that's it.
For stool meconium, which is often used, "Meconium drug testing can detect maternal drug use during the last 4 to 5 months of pregnancy." because the baby starts making stool at about midway through pregnancy and any drugs that the baby is exposed to accumulate/stay/collect in the stool. The stool doesn't have anywhere to go, it just stays there, so if they test they get a lot of information. I cannot say in your case if they collect it or not.

main issue is that there may not be stool easily gotten for the test at the time of delivery.
And... testing is highly variable among states, and even hospitals within the state. No idea and cannot predict if they will test.
